LYNCHBURG, Va. — Appalachian State University field hockey (2-10, 0-2 NorPac) was held scoreless Sunday on the road against Liberty (8-4, 2-0 NorPac). The 10-0 loss was the largest deficit of the year.

Serena Barr put the Lady Flames on the board less than 10 minutes into the contest as she ripped a pass from Helen Doolittle into the bottom left corner of the net.

The floodgates would open from there as Liberty struck for two more goals over the next 10 minutes and carried a 4-0 lead into halftime after notching another goal at the 24:23 mark.

Appalachian was unable to slow the momentum in the second half, as Liberty scored three goals in the first four and a half minutes of the second period en route to its seventh-straight win.

The Mountaineers let in four first half goals with Cristina Ceppi in the net. Ceppi had three saves before Jordan Yaukey took over the goal keeping duties in the second half, making her season debut. She recored her first save of the season, but allowed six goals over the final 35 minutes of the match.

The Montaineers recorded only two shots against the Lady Flames. Laura Malinoski and Abby Carls both had one shot on goal. Liberty recorded 14 shots on goal and 19 total shots on the day.

The Mountaineers return home for two matches this weekend. Liberty comes to Boone on Friday for a 3 p.m. contest before Boston College visits for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday.
