BOONE, N.C. – High energy and intensity were evident as Appalachian State University men's basketball conducted its first official practice of the 2014-15 season on Saturday morning at Varsity Gym.
The Mountaineers, in their first season under head coach Jim Fox, began the two-hour practice with their normal stretching routine before moving immediately into free-throw shooting drills.
After that, coaches split the squad into backcourt and frontcourt groups to work on position-specific drills with several one-on-one competitions.
Following the split session, the entire team took the floor to begin installing a new offense and working on defensive assignments. Both the staff and players went full speed throughout the entire practice.
The Apps return to the court on Sunday when they practice at the Holmes Center at 3:30 p.m. - check appstatesports.com throughout the month for practice reports and interviews.
