Mountaineers Fall to Saint Francis

BOONE N.C. After an exciting comeback win on Saturday, Appalachian State University field hockey fell to Saint Francis on Sunday at Brandon and Erica M. Adcock Field. The Mountaineers fell to 4-13 on the season after the 5-0 loss.

Appalachian could not keep the momentum of the previous two matches going as they were shut out by the Red Flash. Marissa O'Brien and Jordan Van Cleave were the only Mountaineers to register shots. O'Briena and Van Cleave each had one shot.

Cristina Ceppi fell to 4-12 on the season. Ceppi saved 4 shots in 63 minutes. Jordan Yaukey came into the match for the final 7 minutes but did not record any saves.

The Red Flash offense was too much for Appalachian, out shooting the Mountaineers Nine to two. Autumn Pellman opened up the scoring in the seventh minute and Saint Francis never looked back. Pellman finished with four goals. Selena Adamshick recorded one goal and two assists for the Red Flash.

The Mountaineers host the last two matches of their regular season next weekend. The Apps play Longwood on Friday and VCU on Sunday.
