BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University volleyball will play host to UL Lafayette and UL Monroe this weekend after dropping two-straight matches last week.
The Mountaineers (15-4, 5-4 Sun Belt) will have a rematch against UL Lafayette (15-6, 5-5 SBC) on Friday at 7 p.m. before taking on UL Monroe (7-15, 1-8 SBC) on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Apps will also help support breast cancer awareness by hosting their "Dig Pink" matches this weekend.
A Look at the Mountaineers
• Appalachian struggled last week, falling to Texas State and UT Arlington, each in three sets.
• The two losses were only the Mountaineer's third and fourth losses of the season.
• The Mountaineers were led by Emily Corrigan in both matches as she tallied 24 kills on the weekend.
• Paige Brown led the team in assists, finding 25 and 23 kills, respectively.
• The Apps rank 65th this week in the NCAA RPI rankings.
Leading the Sun Belt
• Corrigan continues to lead the Sun Belt in kills per set, recording an average of 4.98 this season.
• Brown is ranked first in the league in assists with 11.86 per set.
• Lauren Gray is seventh in the conference in hitting percentage, posting a mark of .332 on the season.
• Meghan Mahoney leads the Apps on defense and is seventh in the conferece in digs, averaging 4.15 per set.
• Appalachian leads the league in assists per set as a team, averaging 13.48 per set.
• The team is second in kills per set with an average of 13.98.
• The Mountaineers are third in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.230) and opponent hitting percentage (.170).
• The Apps are ranked fourth in digs per set with a mark of 16.33.
In the National Rankings
• Brown is now fourth in the nation for assists per set.
• Corrigan is ranked sixth nationally in kills per set, seventh in points per set and fourth in attacks per set.
• The team is 12th in the country for assists per set.
• The Mountaineers are also ranked 24th as a team in kills per set.
• The Apps are 32nd in match win-loss percentage.
Scouting the Ragin Cajuns
• UL Lafayette most recently played Baylor on Tuesday night, falling in four four sets.
• The team split their conference matches the weekend before, falling to UALR before defeating Troy in five sets.
• Sara Mossakowski is the offensive leader for ULL, averaging 2.61 kills per set this season.
• Andrea Hole, the starting setter, ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in assists with 10.01 per set.
• Hole is also the team leader in service aces, averaging 0.30 per set this season.
• Caitlyn Auxillien leads the team in digs per set this season and is ranked seventh in the conference with an average of 3.80 per set.
• The Mountaineers played the Ragin Cajuns earlier this season, falling in five sets.
Scouting the Warhawks
• UL Monroe comes to Boone after splitting last week's conference matches when they defeated Troy in five sets before falling to Texas State in three.
• Hadley Swartz is the team leader in kills, averaging 2.62 per set this season.
• Hope Pawlik follows with an average of 2.47 per set this season.
• Bayleigh Hoffman is the team's starting setter, averaging 7.60 assists per set for an eighth-place Sun Belt ranking.
• Hoffman also ranks sixth in the conference in service aces, averaging 0.32 per set.
• Marcela Araya is third in the league in digs per set with a mark of 5.21.
• The Warhawks are first in the Sun Belt in service aces as they average 1.55 per set.
