CHARLESTON, S.C. – The third-flight doubles tandem of Steve Lake/Jack Maddocks posted a perfect 3-0 record and Appalachian State University men's tennis picked up 12 total wins at the College of Charleston Invitational over the weekend.
The Mountaineers competed against players from College of Charleston, Campbell and Kent State. Lake/Maddocks picked up wins of 8-6, 8-5 and 8-5 en route to the third-flight championship.
Appalachian's top pairing of Zach Bost/Oliver Casey finished 2-1 in doubles play while the No. 2 team of Robert Jenkins/Jan-Willem Kleynhans went 1-2 and the No. 4 pairing of Eric Greene/Chris Mahan finished 1-1, but did not play a third match.
In singles action, Casey led the way with a 2-1 record and runner-up finish in the Gold draw while Bost and Maddocks posted wins in the Maroon and Black draws, respectively.
The Apps return to action this weekend when they take part in the ITA Carolina Regional in Chapel Hill, N.C. from Oct. 16-19.
