BOONE, N.C Appalachian State University field hockey was shut out at home against No. 16 Boston College by a final of 6-0 on Sunday. The Mountaineers continued to struggle on offense, only registering three shots to while allowing 33 from the Eagles.

Emma Plasteras got the Eagles on the board at the 1:57 minute mark. From then on it was all Boston College. BC scored two more first half goals from Emily McCoy and Nina Baumberger. The Eagles added three more goals in the second half to put the match away.

Appalachian's best scoring chance came in the 23rd minute when Jordyn Warren had a fast break oportunity, but was unable to steer it past BC goal keeper Leah Settipane.

Jordan Yaukey made her first start of the season and played the full 70 minutes while registering 11 saves.

The Mountaineer will try to get back on track when they travel to College Park, Md. to face Towson next Sunday before returning home for four-straight matches.
