Women's Soccer Projected Sixth in SoCon Poll
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Appalachian State University women's soccer was tabbed to finish sixth in the annual Southern Conference preseason coaches poll for the 2013 season, announced by the league office on Thursday.

Furman, received 94 points and five-of-12 first-place votes, was projected to finish at the top of the conference, followed closely by Samford, who earned 93 points and four first-place votes. Following the Bulldogs was UNCG with 85 points and the last two first-place votes. Davidson tallied 65 points to finish fourth, while Elon finished fifth with 63 points.

Appalachian State (58), Georgia Southern (46), Western Carolina (39), The Citadel (30), Wofford (21), and Chattanooga (11) rounded out the remaining spots in the poll. With the releasing of the poll, the conference also released its preseason all-conference team.

The Mountaineers will open their preseason schedule on Thursday on the road against ACC member Virginia Tech. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. App State will play it's last exhibition game on Saturday at Longwood. Appalachian will kick off the regular season on Friday, Aug. 23 at home against ETSU with game time set for 7 p.m.
