BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University field hockey head coach Brandi Alexander Kist announced the 2013 schedule on Thursday afternoon, which will be highlighted with five home matches.
The Mountaineers will kick off the 2013 season with four away matches. The 2013 season opener against Kent State will take place in Harrisonburg, Va. on Sunday, September 1 before a clash with Ball State on Monday, September 2. Both matches are scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
The Apps will play a third non-conference match on Sunday, September 8 when they travels to Davidson, N.C. to take on Vermont at 11:30 a.m.
The Black and Gold will open up NorPac play on Saturday, September 14 when they take on Longwood in Farmville, Va. at 3 p.m.
Appalachian will return to the High Country for its first home match of the 2013 season at Kidd Brewer Stadium on Tuesday, September 17 when it takes on Davidson in a NorPac match at 4:30 p.m.
Alexander Kist and her team will travel to Harrisonburg, Va. for the second time of the season to play James Madison and Rider on Saturday and Sunday, September 21-22 at 1 p.m.
The Mountaineers will play their second mid-week home match on Tuesday, October 1 when they match up against Wake Forest at 6:30 p.m.
The Apps will travel to Richmond, Va. to play two matches, the first against Richmond on Saturday, October 5 at 12 p.m. Before closing out the weekend against Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday, October 6 at 1 p.m.
App State will play two conference matches on October 11 and October 13 as they travel to both Davidson and Liberty. The Apps will take on Davidson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Liberty at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The Black and Gold will conclude its 2013 road schedule when it travels to Pennsylvania for two matches. The Apps will play Temple on Friday, October 18 at 3 p.m. before taking on Penn on Sunday, October 20 at 12 p.m.
Appalachian returns to Boone for its final three matches of the season as it plays both Radford and Liberty in NorPac matches on Friday, October 25 and Sunday, October 27. Friday¹s match against the Highlanders is slated to start at 4 p.m. at Kidd Brewer Stadium, while Sunday¹s match will start at 12 p.m.
The Mountaineers conclude their regular season schedule on Friday, November 1 when they take on Longwood in a conference match at 4:30 pm. at Kidd Brewer Stadium.
The NorPac Tournament is slated for November 7-9 in Lynchburg, Va. Appalachian will look to improve upon its 3-15 overall record and 0-8 NorPac record from the 2012 season.
