Mountaineers Take on Buckeyes in Columbus

BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's basketball will take on Ohio State on Friday night at 7 p.m. in the Value City Arena.

The Mountaineers (2-7, 0-1 SoCon) will match up against the Buckeyes (8-6, 0-0 Big Ten) after getting their first Division I win of the season against Radford last week. Ohio State comes off an 82-60 win over UT Martin on Tuesday night.

APP vs. OSU
• The Apps will play their eighth non-conference game of the season against Big Ten opponent Ohio State on Friday in Columbus, Ohio.
• This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
• The Mountaineers are 1-2 against Big Ten opponents, with their latest meeting against Michigan State in 1998. 
• Appalachian lost to Michigan State 100-63.
• The Mountaineers beat Michigan in 1993, 79-71 and lost to Iowa, 68-66 in 1996.

• The Mountaineers will play on Friday after getting an exciting win over Radford on Monday night, 83-60.
• The Apps clinched their first win in 31 days, the largest drought for women's basketball since 2008-09.
Maryah Sydnor had 24 points in the win and hit the 1,000 point mark in her career at Appalachian, accomplishing the feat in her hometown of Radford, Va.
• Sydnor continues to lead the conference in points per game with an average of 22.5.
Katie Mallow added 13 points and 3 assists for the Apps in the game.
KeKe Cooper had a solid game in the win, recording 11 points and grabbing 11 boards for her fourth double-double of the season.
• Freshmen Mia Marshall and Joi Jones proved their value on Monday, each chipping in eight points in the game.

• Darryce Moore leads the team in rebounding with 7.0 per game.
