Women Finish Fourth at SoCon Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Appalachian State University women's cross country finished fourth in the 5,000m race at the Southern Conference Championships on Saturday morning in Birmingham, Ala.

Justine Stocks led the way for the Mountaineers, finishing in tenth place overall with a time of 18:23.22 and receiving All SoCon Second Team honors. Dana Cox finished second for the Apps, recording a time of 18:38.52 and finishing in 15th place overall.

Brittany Williams, Meaghan McCauley and Katie Cagle crossed the finish line in the top five for the Mountaineers, placing 22nd, 25th and 27th place overall, respectively.

Chattanooga's Teghan Henderson won the individual title in the race, finishing with a time of 17:05.84.

Furman claimed the team title, tallying three runners in the top 10 overall for a total of 48 points. Elon followed with 50 total points and UNCG earned third place with a total of 62 points. Appalachian finished fourth in the race with 99 points.

The Mountaineers will return to action on Nov. 9 at the Three Stripe Invitational in Raleigh, N.C.
