BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University women's basketball will show fans The Next Generation of Mountaineers when it takes the floor in an exhibition contest against USC-Aiken at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Holmes Center.

The Mountaineers, who return just one starter from a year ago, will field almost an entirely new squad in 2013-14 as a total of 10 underclassmen populate the roster. Maryah Sydnor is back as the only returning starter from a year ago but several young players showed up big towards the end of last season.

Bria Huffman showed her promise with 11 points against Charlotte in the WNIT while KeKe Cooper, LaShawna Gatewood and Farrahn Wood all saw significant time for the Apps. Katie Mallow is also back and looks to expand her role in the rotation after being one of Appalachian's primary scoring threats off the bench in her first two years.

USC-Aiken is coming off an impressive 22-8 campaign from last season that included a trip to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional semifinals.

Saturday's exhibition is free and open to the public and appstatesports.com will provide live statistics for fans unable to attend.

Fans can also catch Appalachian State head coach Darcie Vincent on the High Country Sports Spotlight with Mike Kelly on WATA 1450-AM at 11:30 on Wednesday morning.
