Women's Hoops Travel to Charleston, Look to Go 4-0

BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's basketball looks for its eighth straight victory against College of Charleston at TD Arena on Friday night. The Mountaineers (10-3, 4-1 SoCon) managed to outlast Wofford on Monday in a 68-65 double-overtime victory, while College of Charleston fell to power player Chattanooga in a 64-53 final.

On average, the Mountaineers score more points-per-game and limit opponent scoring to fewer allowed points compared to CofC. The Mountaineers stand better stastically overall compared to College of Charleston, with the exception of rebounding average and blocks per game. 

SCOUTING THE COUGARS 
• College of Charleston enters Friday's mathup with a 7-8 record overall, and 3-3 in SoCon action.
• The Cougars have lost their last three meetings against Chattanooga, Samford, and Davidson.
• CofC returns top players Latisha Harris, Cathryn Hardy, and Megan Fischer.
• Latisha Harris leads the Cougars in scoring and rebounding with 14.2 points-a-game and 8.8 rebounds.
• CofC is ranked tenth in the nation for it's three-point field-goal defense.
• Jillian Brown ranks 11th nationally in assists, averaging 6.9 per game. 

SERIES HISTORY 
• Appalachian State is 20-15 all-time against College of Charleston, and has won its last seven meetings against the Cougars
• Appalachian's current seven game run is the longest winning streak since the two sqauds began meeting in 1974.
• The Courgars' longest winning streak lasted over four games from the 2007-09 seasons.
• College of Charleston is one of only three SoCon rivals who lead the series against Appalachian State. 

GLANCING AHEAD

• The Apps return home to host UNCG on Jan. 20 before closing out the month of January with matchups at Chattanooga on Jan. 26 and Samford on Jan 28.
• App State opens up its February slate with Elon at home on Feb. 2.
