Appalachian State University baseball opens a six-game homestand with a rare two-game mid-week series versus Eastern Kentucky. The non-conference set opens on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and concludes with a Businessperson's Special on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at ASU's Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium.

Tickets for both games can be purchased online by clicking HERE. For Tuesday's series opener, hot dogs will cost just $1 all evening at the Smith Stadium concession stand.

For fans that can't make it out to the ballpark, live video broadcasts of both games will be streamed FREE on GoASU TV. The Appalachian IMG Sports Network's radio broadcasts of both contests can also be heard locally on WATA 1450 AM in Boone.

Appalachian (25-9, 10-5 SoCon) is in the midst of its only slump of the season to date, having lost four of its last five games coming in to the six-game homestand. However, the Mountaineers remain tied atop the Southern Conference standings midway through their league slate and still maintain a healthy No. 31 ranking among 297 NCAA Division I teams in the latest all-important Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) standings, according to BoydsWorld.com.

The Apps look to return to form with six-straight games at the friendly confines of Smith Stadium, where they are a gaudy 17-1 this season. ASU has won seven-consecutive home series, including all five this season, and is 44-7 in non-conference games at the ballpark since it opened in 2007.

Despite the relative proximity between the two schools, Appalachian and Eastern Kentucky have only met twice before on the baseball diamond. This week's matchups are the first between the clubs since EKU downed ASU, 9-1, in Boone in 1995. The only other meeting between the Mountaineers and Colonels came in the 1984 NCAA South II Regional in Starkville, Miss., when EKU ended Appalachian's magical 35-7 season with a 10-9 defeat.

Eastern Kentucky brings a 16-17 overall record to Boone but after a slow start to the campaign, EKU is one of college baseball's hottest teams with wins in nine of its last 11 games.

ASU sends true freshman Jamie Nunn and his perfect 3-0 record and minuscule 1.67 ERA to the mound for Tuesday's series opener versus EKU junior Chase Greene (0-2, 10.34 ERA). Neither team has decided on starting pitchers for Wednesday's matinee.
