BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University women's basketball returns home for a colossal showdown with preseason Southern Conference favorite Chattanooga at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Holmes Center.
The Mountaineers (12-3, 6-1 SoCon) picked up a 59-58 win at Wofford on Wednesday and can pull closer to the top of the conference standings with a victory on Saturday.
The Lady Mocs (13-4, 8-0) are the only team still perfect in SoCon play after picking up a 74-68 win over Samford earlier this week.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN3 with Darren Goldwater (play-by-play) and Robin Muller (analyst) on the call.
The game will also serve as ASU's annual "Pack the House" Challenge. The NCAA crowns a conference champion for the contest each season. Appalachian State was the Southern Conference winner during the 2009-10 season.
Series History
• Saturday's meeting between Appalachian State and Chattanooga will be the 74th all-time between the schools.

• Chattanooga is led by five-time SoCon Coach of the Year Wes Moore, who is in his 15th season with the Lady Mocs.
• Prior to ASU's SoCon regular-season title last year, Chattanooga had won or shared 11-straight SoCon regular season championships and won eight tournament titles.
• The Lady Mocs are led by reigning SoCon Player of the Week Whitney Hood who averages 14.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
• A preseason all-SoCon selection, Hood entered the week ranked first in the conference and 35th nationally in shooting percentage.
• The Lady Mocs feature one of the better ball-control offenses in the nation, averaging just 13 turnovers per game.
• Chattanooga ranks first in the league and fourth nationally in turnovers. The Lady Mocs are also ninth in the nation in fouls, 22nd in free-throw percentage and 34th in assist/turnover ratio.
