HARRISONBURG, Va. - Rider defeated Appalachian State field hockey 7-1 on Sunday morning in Harrisonburg, Va.
The Broncs' Virginia Egusquiza scored the first goal of the game in the fifth minute. Rider struck again in the ninth minute off a penalty corner goal by Sandra Penas. The Broncs took 6-0 lead into halftime by goals from Gabby Burgo, Penas and a pair of goals by Marlaine Schneider.
Rider's Stephanie McGintly tagged on another goal in the 54th minute. The Mountaineers would get on the board with a goal from sophomore Brooklyn Shearer.
The Black and Gold drops to 0-3 as the Broncs improve to 3-0.
ASU travels to Louisville Ky. next weekend to face-off with Missouri State on September 10 and Louisville on Sept. 11.
