ASU COACH SELECTED FOR INDUCTION TO LOCAL HALL OF FAME: ASU pitching coach Craig Scheffler has been selected for induction into the Central Wisconsin Baseball Hall of Fame.

A native of Wausau, Wis., Scheffler starred at Wausau East High School before playing collegiately at Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In 1994, he led the Class A Northwest League with eight wins for the Yakima Bears.

In his sixth season at Appalachian, each of Scheffler's five Mountaineer pitching staffs have posted ERAs under 6.20. Prior to his arrival in 2006, it had been 10 seasons since ASU had a team ERA lower than 6.44.
