Street Moves Up Career Saves List in Field Hockey Loss

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa.- Junior Bridgette Street records nine saves in a 3-1 Appalachian State University loss to La Salle.

Street claimed sole possession of seventh place on Appalachian's career saves list in the 21st minute of the first half. She now has 29 saves on the season and 323 in her career. The next two former ASU players up on the career saves list are Malia Sweiconek at 334 and Chelsea Dailey at 382.

Street was tested the whole first half of the match by the Explorers (2-3) as it outshot the Mountaineers 10-5 with Street tallying six saves.

The Explorers took a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute, when Beth Carey slipped a shot into the goal.

In the second half, La Salle came out blazing as it notched two goals in the first two minutes of the half to take a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Apps (2-3) inched closer when sophomore Lesley Thomas scored her third goal of the season in the 40th minute of the second half, but the Explorers held off Appalachian to win 3-1.

ASU will make the roadtrip back up to Moon Township, Pa. next weekend to face Saint Francis Friday, September 17 at 6 p.m. and Lock Haven on Sunday, September 19 at 11 a.m.
