BOONE, N.C.- Capping off its already impressive incoming class for the 2010 season, Appalachian State University volleyball has added one more to the fold for the upcoming campaign. Head coach
Matt Ginipro announced Wednesday morning that
Lindsey Sauls, the sister of ASU setter
Kasey Sauls will join the Mountaineers next season.
Sauls, a 5-10 outside hitter from Prarie Village, Kansas, was a three-year letter winner in volleyball at Shawnee Mission East High School.
During her sophomore season she was an all-Sunflower League honorable mention, while picking up all-Sun first team honors, Johnson Country honorable mention honors and named to the all-Sunflower league first team her junior year.
She concluded her high school career with a stellar senior year, as she was tabbed the Max Preps/AVCA High School Player of the Week in September of 2009, named all-Sun first team and all-Sunflower League first team. She also earned all-State second team honors and was the 2009 Kansas Senior all-Star Player. During her senior season she averaged five kills per contest, while totaling 357 kills on the season and averaging 2.4 digs per match.
Sauls plans on majoring in special education and will join sister Kasey, who is a two-year starter for the Black and Gold.
Ginipro on Sauls: "With our desire to continue to bring great people to Appalachian, I'm happy to finally announce that Lindsey will be a part of our program in the fall," Ginipro said. " With Kasey already here, we've known Lindsey for a long time as a player and, more importantly, as a person. She is a very talented, athletic outside hitter and I'm excited to see her develop into an even stronger player during her time in Boone. A huge bonus for our program is that Lindsey is playing on the same club team as
Lauren Brown and
Jessica Eley this spring, so our three incoming players from the Kansas City area will have a ton of experience competing together as teammates."
