Street, Charney Claim NorPac Honors

Boone, NC -- Appalachian State's Bridgette Street and Lisa Charney were named NorPac Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.

Tuesday's announcement marks the second consecutive week that the Mountaineers have claimed two weekly honors. Last week, sophomore Kelsey Dorset was named Offensive Player of the Week following her game-winning goal against Rutgers, and Street was named Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season.

Street turned back a total of 43 shots in three games last week, including a career-high 21 against Villanova Saturday. She also posted double-figure saves against William and Mary (10) and West Chester (12). Street's 12.33 saves per game place her atop the NorPac rankings and second in the NCAA overall.

Charney, a native of Fairfax, Va., notched her first collegiate goal in the Villanova tilit Saturday. For the season, Charney has made four starts in six contests and fired 10 shots on goal tying her for the team lead.

ASU opens up its NorPac slate Friday night, taking on rival Davidson at Kidd Brewer Stadium at 7 p.m.
