Before embarking on a week-long break from action for final exams, Appalachian State University baseball hosts three non-conference games this week at Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium. Appalachian takes on Radford on Tuesday at 7 p.m., UNC Asheville on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and North Carolina Central on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Appalachian (26-17, 13-12 SoCon) remains one of the nation's hottest teams, having won 13-of-14 and 20-of-23 overall, including 12-straight at Smith Stadium.
Leading the way for the Mountaineers is third baseman Isaac Harrow. The senior went 7-for-8 in a three-game sweep of visiting Wofford over the weekend to up his batting average to .417. Should he maintain the lofty average for the rest of the season, it would be the highest by a Mountaineer in nine seasons and the second-highest at ASU in the past two decades.
Additionally, Harrow is just one hit shy of matching Appalachian's all-time hits record, as he brings 238 career hits into the week, just one shy of the school record of 239 held by Chris Behne (1997-2000).
The hits column is just one of several ASU career marks where Harrow is on the verge of etching his name at the top of the list. Already the school's all-time leader in RBI (185) and total bases (387), Harrow has tied Appalachian's career doubles record with 61 and is nearing the school records for career at-bats (12 shy of record of 700), runs scored (seven shy of record of 162), triples (four shy of record of 12) and games played (nine shy of record of 188).
Following the rare three mid-week contests, the Mountaineers will focus on finals until it travels for its final Southern Conference series of the season May 8-10 at UNC Greensboro.
