Appalachian State University baseball squares off with what will likely be a pair of fatigued non-conference foes this week when it travels to UNC Asheville and hosts High Point. Tuesday's game versus UNCA at Asheville's historic McCormick Field starts at 7 p.m. and Wednesday's home date against HPU is set for 5 p.m.

UNC Asheville and High Point are likely to be a bit weary this week because the Big South foes are wrapping up a three-game conference series versus each other on Monday in Asheville. Due to rain on Friday and Saturday, the teams were forced to get their three-game weekend series in with a doubleheader on Sunday and a single game on Monday. However, the nightcap of Sunday's twinbill was suspended due to darkness with the game knotted at 7-7 in the 11th inning, so the Bulldogs and Panthers must conclude that game before playing the series finale on Monday.

On the other hand, Appalachian (8-15, 3-10 SoCon) has played only three games in the past eight days, as it had two contests washed out by the rain last week. ASU comes into the week having won three of its last four games, with the only loss coming on a walk-off home run by Davidson's Chase FitzPatrick in the first game of the Mountaineers' rain-shortened two-game Southern Conference series at DC this past weekend.

In their last two victories ? a 19-6 rout over North Carolina A&T last Tuesday and a 15-5 triumph over Davidson on Sunday ? the Mountaineers have set season highs for runs and hits in all games (19 runs, 20 hits vs. N.C. A&T) and in a SoCon game (15 runs, 17 hits vs. DC).

Senior third baseman Isaac Harrow has led the club's recent offensive resurgence. Over the last three games, Harrow is hitting an astounding .786 (11-for-14) with an .824 on-base percentage and 1.214 slugging percentage. He had multiple hits in each of the three games last week, beginning with a 4-for-5 effort that fell versus N.C. A&T in which he fell just a home run shy of hitting for the cycle and capped by a 5-for-5 performance in Sunday's 15-5 win over Davidson.

His five hits versus the Wildcats, which included a pair of doubles, tied a career high for Harrow and were the most by a Mountaineer this season. In the past week, he has raised his batting average 65 points from .350 to .415.

Appalachian swept two games from UNC Asheville last season and is 32-19 all-time versus the Bulldogs. ASU has already taken a 9-2 decision from High Point this season on March 4 and also swept a two-game series a year ago. Under head coach Chris Pollard, the Black and Gold is a combined 9-0 versus UNCA and HPU.
