Men's Track and Field Post Impressive Outing at South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C.- Appalachian State University men's track and field had yet another solid showing over the weekend at the Weems Baskins Invitational as the Mountaineers had impressive showings in numerous events.

In the 100m dash, freshman DeSean Pearce came in fifth with a time of 11.05, while John Svoboda and Carlos Carter notched eighth and ninth place finishes.

Sophomore Phillip Bush led the Apps in the 200m dash, placing fifth with a time of 22.31, and Svoboda and Pearce earned sixth and tenth place finishes.

In the 800m run, Nick O'Keefe grabbed a fifth place finish with a time of 1:57.42 and Brooks Forsyth finished tied for seventh.

Daniel Neal came in fourth in the 110m hurdles, finishing the race in 14.72, while Matt Boruff placed ninth and Bush came in 11th.

Freshman AJ Dohanic earned a seventh place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.04 and Neal came in ninth.

Mason Campbell was impressive in the 3000m steeplechase, capturing first place with a time of 10:03.68 and teammate Mason Campbell placed fourth.

Bush paced the Apps in the long jump, leaping a team-best 21-4.75, while Mike Wilson and Mike Pope notched seventh and ninth place finishes.

Capping off the meet, Jerod Gardner came in seventh in the discus and eighth in the javelin throw and Tim Daly finished fourth in the hammer, with Malcolm Styers coming in sixth and freshman Matt Pfingst placing sixth in the javelin.

The Mountaineers return to action Saturday April 4, as the Apps head to Cullowhee, N.C. to compete at the Beach vs. Mountains meet.
