Men's Basketball Closes Road Trip at Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's basketball closes out the calendar year and a three-game road trip on Wednesday at Campbell. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.

The Mountaineers (7-5) last took the court nine days ago at Dayton, where the squad suffered a 65-49 setback. Marcus Wright scored 15 points off the bench, including nine of ASU's 20 second half points, while Andre Williamson grabbed a career-best 16 rebounds.

Wednesday's contest is the final road non-conference game of the season as Southern Conference play begins in earnest in January.

Campbell started the season 5-1 but dropped 3-of-4 to enter the contest at 6-4 on the season, 5-1 at home. Jonathan Rodriguez leads the team with 17.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

In their last game, the Camels fell 88-80 at Longwood, despite 25 points and 13 boards from Rodriguez. CU has lost 11-straight games to SoCon opponents, including four-straight to ASU, dating back to 1983-84.

The Mountaineers have only played in Buies Creek once during the current streak, and hold a 5-2 advantage away from Boone, including a pair of neutral site wins.

The Apps have average an 11.8 point margin of victory during the four-game winning streak.

The Mountaineers previously had a seven-game winning streak against the Camels.

This season's game comes in the back end of a double-header with Campbell's women's basketball team. This is special for Andre Williamson, as his sister, Ashley, plays for the CU's women's squad.

Head coach Buzz Peterson is 1-1 against Campbell.
