BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's basketball will sign autographs for fans from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at Beef O'Brady's as the Appalachian ISP Sports Network previews the upcoming season.
Fans are encouraged to come out and meet the Mountaineers as they gear up for Friday's home opener.
Host David Jackson will broadcast from 7-8 p.m. and will feature Coach Buzz Peterson, select players from this year's squad and a preview of the upcoming season opener vs. UNC Wilmington and a busy first week of play for the Apps.
Beef O'Brady's is located in the Watauga Village Shopping Center on Blowing Rock Road in Boone.
Media Selects ASU Second in North
Similar to the coaches' poll, the Southern Conference media selected Appalachian second in the North, behind Western Carolina. The Mountaineers earned five first-place votes out of 24 and 109 points overall. The Catamounts received 129 points and 16 first-place votes. Samford and Chattanooga followed, with 88 and 84 points, respectively. UTC earned two first-place votes while UNC Greensboro (43 points), who was picked sixth behind Elon (51 points), received the other.
College of Charleston is the overwhelming favorite in the South, as the Cougars received 21 first-place votes and 140 points overall, easily outdistancing second-place Davidson (107 points, one first-place vote). Wofford was picked third with 87 points, just ahead of The Citadel's 84 points and two first-place nods.
Georgia Southern (49 points) and Furman (35) rounded out the South.
Saturday's East Tennessee State Game Time Changed
Appalachian's first road contest of the season will be slightly earlier than planned, as Saturday's game at East Tennessee State has been moved from a 7 p.m. tip-off to 4 p.m.
Due to football's 3 p.m. kickoff at Elon, the basketball game will not be broadcast on the Appalachian ISP Sports Network. Fans unable to attend the game can tune in to the Buccaneer Sports Network.
