RADFORD, VA. -- Sophomore goalkeeper Bridgette Street was named NorPac East Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday, marking the fourth time this season the Stillwater, Pa. native has been named the week's top defender.
The latest honor comes on the heels of two double-digit save outings this past weekend. Street posted 14 saves in Appalachian's 2-1 overtime win over UC-Davis Friday, and followed up with 10 more against No. 4 Wake Forest Sunday.
For the season, Street leads the NorPac in total saves (127) and save percentage (.774) and ranks second nationally in saves per game with 10.6, trailing only Siena's Renee Clavette.
Street and the Mountaineers will be back in action Wednesday, when they travel to Radford to face the Highlanders in a critical NorPac East division game.
