Field Hockey Drops Non-Conference Match at Towson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Appalachian State field hockey dropped a non-conference match Sunday, dropping a 3-0 decision at Towson.

Towson's Katie DeFillipo got the Tigers on the board early, connecting on her sixth goal of the season in the game's second minute to put the Mountaineers in an early 1-0 hole. In the 25th minute, the Tigers' Jamie Salvador struck off an assist from Brooke Smith to double the margin. Three minutes later, Towson's Kristie Blumer scored to send the Mountaineers to the half trailing 3-0.

The second frame proved uneventful as both teams battled 35 minutes without tallying a goal.

The Apps struggled to generate any offensive momentum in the game, posting only two shots in the first half and one in the second.

Sophomore goalkeeper Bridgette Street had seven saves on the day to bring her season total to 166, which ranks 10th all-time in single season saves in school history.

Appalachian returns to action next Saturday, travelling to Davidson to take on the Wildcats in a crucial NorPac matchup.
