In the 30th minute, Hannah Lyerly scooped up a rebound in front of ASU keeper Bridgette Street (12 saves) to send the Apps to the intermission facing a 2-0 defecit.
The Rams' Chelsea Hill made sure that the Appalachian could not climb back in the game in the 54th minute, connecting on a back-handed shot to put the Apps down 3-0. The Mountaineers' lone goal came in the game's 67th minute, when junior forward Nicole Morgan struck for the fifth time in the 2009 season to bring the final tally to 3-1.
