Elon Volleyball Visits High Country on Saturday
BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University volleyball hosts Elon on Saturday at 4 p.m. as Southern Conference competition continues for the Mountaineers.

After falling in the league opener to UNC Greensboro in three sets, the Apps (4-11, 0-1) look to get back to their winning ways in the matinee match at the Holmes Center. Admission is free for all fans.

Junior Cassie Engelgau leads the team and ranks eighth in the SoCon with 3.70 digs per set. She ranks 152nd in the nation in the category.

Heather Kale is 109th in the country with 0.43 service aces per set, good for ninth in the conference. Elon's Lizzie West averages 0.55, the 27th-best mark in the NCAA.

The Phoenix has won four of its last six matches, including a five-set win against High Point on Wednesday and has yet to open SoCon play.

Against common opponents this year, both squads swept Winston-Salem State and North Carolina A&T. Elon (11-5) used four sets to defeat Charlotte while the Apps handled the 49ers in three.
