Durham, N.C. - Appalachian State field hockey drops 0-8 on the season after a 7-0 loss to powerhouse Ohio State.
The Buckeyes took the lead early with a goal from Aisling Coyle assisted by Jena Cacciatore. Ohio State took the lead and never looked back, with goals from Jena Cacciatore and Linda Haussener in the first half, giving the Buckeyes the advantage 3-0 going into half time.
Ohio State was able to score four more goals during the second half, from Emily Mikac, Aisling McKeon, Linda Haussener, and Jenn Sciulli, finishing the game 7-0.
Freshman Bridgette Street started in goal with for the Mountaineers, earning nine saves before Sabra Holt came into the game. Holt earned one save during her minutes of play. Ohio State's Lindsay Quintiliani started in goal during the first half and Ali Ristas finished the game in goal for the Buckeyes.
Offensively, Jessie Harris recored ASU's lone shot. The Buckeyes outshot ASU 26-1.
Appalachian returns to action Saturday September 27, as the Mountaineers travel to Davidson, N.C. to take on Monmouth at 1 p.m.
