Appalachian State basketball fans will get their first look at the
2008-09 editions of the men's and women's basketball team at the teams'
annual Mountaineer Madness on Tuesday, November 11 at the Holmes
Convocation Center. Doors to the Holmes Center open at 7:30 p.m. with
the Madness commencing at 8 p.m.
The first 500 fans through the door will receive team posters in
addition to a wide range of great prizes to be awarded with numerous
contests throughout the evening. Joining in the Madness will be the ASU
cheerleading and dance team who will perform along with the ASU pep
band and drumline.
In addition to seeing the defending back-to-back SoCon North Division
champion men's team and the new-look women's squad in action, both
men's coach Houston Fancher and first-year women's coach
Darcie Vincent
will speak about the excitement leading up to the 2008-09 season.
The evening will close with the men's team holding the fan-favorite slam-dunk competition.
Both teams will use Mountaineer Madness as a springboard to the
upcoming season with both teams opening up the season on Friday,
November 14. The men take to the road to face UNC Wilmington while the
women open up at home against former SoCon rival Marshall at 7 p.m. For
