On being a new coach in the league ...
"It's an exciting time for me and after practicing for a few weeks you really realize what a privilege and honor it is to be a part of such a great conference and compete against these great coaches."

On Brittany Mixon earning preseason honors ...
"I'm very proud of Brittany Mixon being on the preseason all-conference team. I know that was one of her goals. She's played good basketball but I thinks she still knows she still has better basketball in her. The fact that the coaches have enough respect to vote her to the preseason team I think shows other realize she's got more in her. Obviously, she is a key player for us and is probably having the most difficult time having learned under the previous system for the past three years and that's a lot of change.

On her team's youth ...
"With 10 freshmen or sophomores on the roster, based on the mood, based on the drill, based on day, it changes who is stepping up for us. Sade Means has definitely elevated herself to possibly being in the starting lineup. Kenisha Edwards is the same way. The two all-freshman team members from last year, Sam Ramirez and Francis Hernandez, are back and are looking strong. Our goal is to be a better team in January and February than we are now. We're definitely going through some growing pains.

On her schedule ...
"We open up with Marshall which is returning four of its five starters and I think it's extremely important to play that good competition while still maintaining our confidence. We have some very good competition and we're going to have to take it day-by-day so our freshmen become sophomores and sophomores become juniors as quickly as possible."
