BOONE, N.C. ?€“ Appalachian State University women's basketball has added its fifth newcomer to the 2007-08 squad as it received a commitment from 6-2 forward Taylor Lake (Greenbelt, Md./Woodrow Wilson) head coach Adrienne Shuler announced Tuesday, June 12. "I am thrilled with the addition of Taylor because I believe we've added quality depth and ability at a much needed area on our roster," Shuler said. "Her ability to run the floor and finish suits our style of play very well. With the fact she is a very bright and disciplined young lady makes me that much more excited to have her as part of our Mountaineer family." Lake played under head coach Eddy Bailey at Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, D.C., where she averaged 8.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. The 6-2 forward earned numerous honors, including recognition from 'N Top Shape' and the Real Basketball Report, as well as all-region honors and an appearance in the DCIAA all-star game. Lake was named the team's Rookie of the Year in 2004-05, was a player of the week during the 2005-06 season and earned MVP accolades in 2006-07. Lake joins guards Robin Colbert (Mitchellville, Md./Holy Cross), Frances Hernandez (Forest City, N.C./R.S. Central HS), Sam Ramirez (Hope Mills, N.C./Southview HS) and Brittney Spencer (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) who committed to ASU earlier.
