The Appalachian State University volleyball program has received commitments from Jordan Jesberg (Colleyville, Texas/Colleyville Heritage HS), Jackie Santarelli (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons HS), Caroline Sedon (Medina, Ohio/Our Lady of the Elms) and Lauren Swecker (Charlotte, N.C./Providence HS) to compete at ASU beginning in the fall of 2007, ASU head coach Chad Callihan announced Monday. Jesberg played volleyball at Colleyville Heritage HS where she set the school record for career kills with 1,059, crushing the old record of 706. Jesberg, who split time between the outside hitter and libero positions, averaged 4.8 digs per game as a senior and 3.9 kills per game as a junior, ranking 10th on the area leaders list in each respective category. At CHHS, Jesberg was a three-time first team all-district honoree, a Texas all-state honorable mention and Ft. Worth Star Telegram Super Team honoree her junior season, while grabbing team MVP honors in 2006 and '05. She was a two-time academic all-district honoree. Santarelli lettered in volleyball at Cardinal Gibbons HS in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where she was named the Florida 4A Player of the Year and South Florida Sun Sentinel 6A-5A-4A Player of the Year in her senior season. The 5-11 outside hitter also earned all-district and all-region honors in 2006 as she led her team to the state championship. Sedon lettered in both volleyball and basketball at Our Lady of the Elms school in Akron, Ohio. The 6-1 middle blocker served as captains of both her volleyball and basketball squads, on her way to all-district honors in both sports. Sedon broke the school records for blocks and kills in a season and qualified for the USA National Development Volleyball Camp in 2005. She's a four-time scholar athlete award honoree. Swecker played at Providence HS in Charlotte, N.C., where she earned South Western 4A Player of the Year honors in 2006 and was named to the all-Charlotte Observer (2006) and all-Mecklenburg teams (2004-06). The 5-10 outside hitter and defensive specialist also earned North Carolina Regional MVP and all-region honors in both 2004 and 2006 and all-conference accolades in 2005 and '06. Swecker led her team to the state championship matches in 2004-06 with the team winning the state title in 2004 and '05. The Mountaineers have finished in the top-two in the league in all four of Callihan's season at ASU and are looking for their third league title in five years in 2007.
