BOONE, N.C.- Appalachian State volleyball hosts No. 16 Tennessee tonight at the Holmes Convocation Center with the first serve at 7 p.m. The Mountaineers last hosted the Lady Vols during the 2002 season. With Saturday's win over Chattanooga, Appalachian assured its first 20-win season since 1995, when they went 23-11. Appalachian is on a five-match win streak. The Lady Vols have won their last three matches. Stefanie Panzer, last week's Southern Conference Player of the Week, has double-digit kills in the last five matches. Panzer leads the team in hitting percentage (.315), solo blocks (26), block assists (114) and blocks per game (1.41). Setter Amber Mangrum became only the second player in Appalachian State history to top 4,000 assists in a season with 4,002 after her 52 against Chattanooga. Mangrum is averaging more than 12 assists a game and leads ASU in service aces with 46 this season. Libero Kali Rumberger's 462 digs on the season ranks fifth on the single season dig list while her career total of 1,184 ranks fourth on the all-time ASU dig list. Rumberger has become the defensive center for Appalachian while her service is an invaluable part of the Mountaineers offense. The Mountaineers are undefeated against teams from the state of Tennessee this season having downed Tennessee State, Chattanooga and East Tennessee State thus far. Appalachian faced No. 19 Santa Clara earlier this season making tonight's match the second of the season against a ranked opponent.
