BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's soccer's J.J. Elder wrapped up his successful freshman season by being named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) all-State team.
The native of Austin, Texas, Elder finished the season with five goals and two assists for 12 points. The numbers are even more impressive since he is a defender.
Elder led the Mountaineers with three game-winning goals and finished tied for third in the Southern Conference in the category.
The honor is the second postseason honor for Elder as he was named to the SoCon all-freshman team.
The Mountaineers' finished 2009 with an 8-8-1 record and fifth place finish in the Southern Conference.
