BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's soccer head coach Shaun Pendleton led the '92 Boy's North Carolina Olympic Development Program team (ODP) to the National Championships after winning the Region-3 Championship this past weekend in New Orleans.
Pendleton led the '92 Boy's to a 3-0 win over South Carolina in their first game and came back with a 2-1 win over Oklahoma. In the region final, they tied Louisiana 3-3 and won 8-7 in penalty kicks.
The team will now play in the National Championships March 12-22 in Frisco, Texas.
"I'm very proud of the team, they are a fine group of young men," Pendleton said. "Coaching this team is such a big honor and also very fun to coach such a great group of players."
ASU assistant coach Matt Nelson also coaches the team, working with the goalkeepers.
