Scott Crothers joined App State’s sports medicine staff in March of 2021 as the Head Football Athletic Trainer for the Mountaineers. He was then promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Health and Well-Being in December 2022.

Crothers came to Boone after providing medical care as the Assistant Athletic Trainer with Football at Clemson, where he was a part of five ACC championships and a national championship to conclude the 2018 season.
 
Crothers’ previous experience includes time at Charleston Southern working as the Associate Athletic Trainer with football and being part of three FCS playoff teams and three Big South Conference championships. He also served as the Head Track/Field and Cross Country Athletic Trainer and has a female track athlete who has qualified to compete and represent Haiti in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. He worked previously at Marshall from 2011 to 2013 as the Assistant Athletic Trainer with Football and Head Golf Athletic Trainer. 
 
Crothers graduated with a M.S. in Youth Development Leadership from Clemson, as he assisted with medical care to the Tigers’ football team and provided medical care to the men’s tennis team. He graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology (with an emphasis in Athletic Training) from Charleston Southern in 2009 and was a summer intern with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers in 2007 and 2008.
 
Crothers is a NATA BOC-certified Athletic Trainer, an NCBATE-licensed Athletic Trainer, an SCATA-certified Athletic Trainer and a member of the Charleston Southern University Alumni Board.
 
Originally from Hartsville, S.C., he now lives in Deep Gap, N.C., with his wife, Heather, and three children: Cannon (son), Norah (daughter) and Oaklyn (daughter).
