Head coach Whitney Jones announced on Aug. 20, 2025, the addition of Olivia Lacy as Director of Softball Operations. She will oversee the day-to-day operations of the softball team in her role.
 
Lacy, who is currently a senior at App State, joins the Mountaineer softball program after serving as the lead student manager and operations assistant for the baseball team, which she has been with since 2022.
 
With the baseball team, Lacy was responsible for numerous things, which included field setup and breakdown, creating itineraries, organizing meals and assigning travel duties.
 
Across Lacy’s three years with the Mountaineer baseball program, she was part of 111 victories, including six at the Sun Belt Tournament.
 
“I am grateful for the App State Baseball family, who helped me build connections and gain valuable experience working in athletics,” Lacy said. “I'm excited to begin a new chapter with the softball team, and I look forward to learning more about their unique culture and team dynamic.”
 
In addition to her work with the baseball program, Lacy also interned in the App State Athletics equipment department during the summer of 2024. She worked with all Olympic sports programs, assisting with inventory of sports gear, heat pressing logos on all equipment, designing logos and communicating with coaches and staff on equipment needs.
 
“We are thrilled to have Olivia join our staff,” Jones said. “She is no stranger to our Athletic Department, having worked with our baseball staff this last year. Her experience in her various roles with the baseball team has prepared her well to fill this position. She will be a great addition to complete our staff, and we can’t wait to kick this year off with her.”
 
Originally from Leesburg, Va., Lacy is working toward her undergraduate degree in Recreation Management with a minor in marketing. She will graduate in May 2026 from App State. In her free time, she enjoys working out and spending time with friends and family.
