Kirstin Shaffer joined App State athletics in July 2023, as the Director of Creative Services.
 
Shaffer came to Boone following four years at the University of the Cumberlands (Williamsburg, Ky.) where she was most recently the Director of Content Creation, overseeing the production of graphics, creative video, and print media. Additionally, Shaffer managed all 31 varsity social media accounts and served as a play-by-play broadcaster for the UC Sports Network. She began her tenure as a sports information graduate assistant and was subsequently promoted to Assistant Sports Information Director in January 2021 before heading the creative content team.
 
In 2022, Shaffer was named to the College Sports Communicators 30 under 30 inaugural class. She has also collected five College Sports Communicators Creative and Digital Design honors and 26 NAIA SiDA Publication awards.
 
Prior to her time at the University of the Cumberlands, Shaffer served as the video coordinator for the University of Nebraska softball team for three seasons. She also previously wrote for The Women’s Game, where she served as the publication’s primary reporter for the Aussies Abroad section, covering Australian women’s soccer.
 
Shaffer earned her undergraduate degree in communications from the University of Cincinnati in 2016, and completed her graduate degree from the University of the Cumberlands in business, with a concentration in marketing, in 2021.
 
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Shaffer now lives in West Jefferson, N.C. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
