Jacob Plecker joined App State Athletics in July 2023, as a strategic communications assistant. He currently serves as the primary media contact for the men's basketball and softball programs. 

In his time at App State, Plecker has overseen communications efforts for a MAC champion field hockey team and a Sun Belt champion men's basketball team that made the National Invitation Tournament in 2024. Both teams were first-time champions in their respected conferences. 
 
A native of Keosauqua, Iowa, Plecker attended Iowa State, where he graduated magna cum laude with a journalism degree in 2023. As a student, Plecker interned with the Cyclones sports information department where he assisted with all 16 athletic programs.
 
Plecker’s experience at Iowa State was highlighted by his involvement with the Cyclones softball team, where he served as the program’s social media manager, in addition to writing game recaps, previews and creating game day programs.
 
Plecker and his wife, Allison, live in Boone, N.C. with their three cats, Mr. Frederickson, Cheddar and Slinky. In his free time, Plecker enjoys baseball, golf, pickleball and weightlifting.
