Jordan Reid

Jordan Reid enters her third season as a part of Janice Savage's Appalachian State softball staff for the 2017 season.

A native of Accokeek, Md., Reid came to Appalachian State after being a member of the Delaware State coaching staff under current head coach Janice Savage for both the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Her duties included focusing on all aspects of the program with an emphasis on outfield play, hitting development and assisting with day-to-day operations. During those two years, Reid helped Savage go from a 22-35 overall record in the first season to a mark of 35-17 in year two. Delaware State's combined record in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) for those two seasons was 27-9. Reid also earned a master's degree in sports administration from Delaware State in 2015.

Prior to becoming a coach, Reid was a standout player for the Hornets as an outfielder/second baseman from 2009-12. There, she became the first Hornet ever to earn Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Mid Atlantic First Team honors in 2011 after being named to the second team in 2010. She was also the first Hornet ever to be named MEAC Player of the Year in three-straight seasons (2010-12).

During the 2011 season, she finished with the second highest batting average in the country at .497. During her time on the field, Reid was also an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I All-Star, a Lowe's Senior Class Award nominee and a two-time Delaware State University Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

In 2012, Reid helped lead the Hornets to a 25-18-1 overall record and those 18 losses were the fewest in DSU history since 1994 when the Hornets were 18-10. From year to year, once Reid became a full-time starter, she immediately showed results. Reid hit .241 as a freshman, .456 as a sophomore, .497 as a junior and .420 as a senior. Reid graduated from Delaware State in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
