Jack Maddocks was named acting head coach on Friday, March 9, where he will handle all responsibilities and operations for the men's tennis program. 

In the first 14 matches of the season, Maddocks was a volunteer assistant with the Mountaineers boasting an 8-6 record while serving in the same role with the women's team. 

Maddocks is in his first campaign as a coach following a successful four-year career with the Mountaineers. He posted a 49-33 mark in singles play and a 42-25 record in doubles action. The Australian posted at least 10 wins in all four years in singles and three of four seasons in doubles competition. 

All four seasons, Maddocks garnered postseason conference honors including a pair of All-Sun Belt Doubles awards, an All-Sun Belt Singles Team honor and was named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team in 2014.  Appalachian posted a 46-41 record that was highlighted by a 26-16 showing in back-to-back winning seasons in 2016 and 2017.

Maddocks was a part of two conference tournament wins in 2014 (SoCon) and helped the Black and Gold earned their first-ever Sun Belt Tournament win in 2016 over then-No. 3 seed Troy. 

His full name is Jackson Caine Maddocks. He resides in Boone and is the son of Chris and Amanda Maddocks. He was born on June 19, 1995, and has one brother, Tom.  He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology.
