Tristin Van Ord has assisted with the coaching of the distance programs since 2019.
 
Van Ord is no stranger to Boone, having graduated Summa Cum Laude from Appalachian State in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in sustainable development. During her studies, Van Ord also competed all four years for App State’s cross country and track & field teams. 
 
While competing for App State, Van Ord won nine individual championship titles in track events ranging from the 3,000 meters to 10,000 meters. She was also a part of two Appalachian State Sun Belt Conference Championship teams, helping the Mountaineers win the cross country title in 2016 and the indoor track & field championship in 2017.
 
Van Ord was nominated for NCAA woman of the year in 2017 and still holds the title for the school record in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 34:04. 
 
After earning her degree at Appalachian State, she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to further pursue her running career. As a co-founder of the Raleigh Distance Project, Van Ord had the opportunity to train with other elite athletes in Raleigh while helping to manage the newly founded non-profit.
 
Representing Oiselle and the Raleigh Distance Project, Van Ord qualified for the US Olympic Trials in the Marathon at Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, MN in June of 2019 with a time of 2 hours and 40 minutes. 
 
Van Ord placed 12th at the USA track and field half marathon championships in 2018 and placed in the top 25 at the USATF road 10k champs in Atlanta in 2018.
