Biography

One of the team’s most respected leaders ... one of only five fifth-year seniors on the roster ... serves as a backup quarterback and, perhaps more importantly, a coach and mentor to the Mountaineers’ young signal-callers ... has performed at a high level when pressed into action at quarterback ... is also the holder on place kicks, a role that he has performed nearly flawlessly for much of the last three seasons.

2013: Saw action in all 12 games, primarly as the holder on place kicks ... saw limited action at quarterback late in a handful of games ... recorded his only statistics with two rushes, including a six-yarder, at Georgia ... received academic all-Southern Conference accolades for the third-consecutive season in recognition of his achievements on the field and in the classroom.

2012: Saw action in six games, primarily as holder on place kicks in the second half of the campaign … took over place-kick holding duties when Sam Martin, who served as the holder over the first half of the season, became the full-time place kicker midway through the year … saw action at quarterback in three games … made his debut behind center with two plays at the end of 55-14 win over Coastal Carolina (did not record any statistics) … was thrust into the spotlight when starting signal-caller Jamal Londry-Jackson went down with a knee injury just over 10 minutes into the Mountaineers’ Oct. 27 contest at Western Carolina … in the first extensive action behind center of his career, completed 20-of-21 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns to help lead Appalachian to a 38-27 triumph over WCU … completed his first 20 pass attempts of the game and of his career, good for a tie for the second-most consecutive completions in SoCon history (behind only the NCAA all-divisions record of 28-straight completions set by former Mountaineer Richie Williams versus Furman in 2004) … only incomplete pass came on his final attempt of the afternoon … .952 completion percentage set a single-game school record and ranks fourth in Southern Conference history (min. 10 completions) … also ran 10 times for 18 yards, including a 13-yard gain, in the triumph at WCU … lined up behind center for one snap of Mountaineers’ season-ending NCAA Division I Football Championship loss to Illinois State, rushing once for minus-five yards … earned academic all-Southern Conference accolades for the second-straight season in recognition of his achievements on the field and in the classroom.

2011: Appeared in all 12 games, primarily as the holder on place kicks, a role that he executed flawlessly throughout the campaign … did not record any receptions or carries on offense but scored his first career touchdown when he recovered a Mountaineer fumble in the end zone for the final touchdown of a 46-14 win over Western Carolina ... earned academic all-Southern Conference recognition for achievements on the field and in the classroom.
