Biography

Incumbent is back for his first full season as Appalachian State’s starting quarterback ... despite not taking over the starting role until the fifth game of last season, put together one of the best seasons by a passer in school history ... shattered school record by completing 71.2 percent of his passes ... also set school record for passing yards by a sophomore with 2,713 ... an intelligent player whose high completion percentage can be attributed in large part to his decision-making skills ... is poised to have an even bigger year in 2014 as he is finally completely healthy with nearly two years under his belt following reconstructive knee surgery in 2012 ... when healthy, possesses the running skills to make him a prototypical quarterback for App State’s spread offense in the mold of former all-Americans Armanti Edwards and DeAndre Presley.

2013: Took over as starting quarterback five games into the season and started the Mountaineers’ final eight games of the campaign ... despite starting only eight games, he quickly etched his name in the school record book ... completed 71.2 percent of his passes (237-of-333) to shatter the school record for single-season completion percentage of .690 that was set by Armanti Edwards during his second Walter Payton Award-winning campaign in 2009 ... also set a new school record for passing yards by a sophomore with 2,713, 712 yards more than the previous record of 2,001 set by Jamal Londry-Jackson in 2011 ... led the Southern Conference in both completion percentage and passing efficiency (151.1) ... despite making as many as five fewer starts than his conference rivals, ranked second in the SoCon in both passing yards and total offense (2,871) ... stepping in for injured starter Londry-Jackson, Bryant completed 8-of-12 passes for 116 yards and rushed twice for 23 yards in limited playing time during the season opener at Montana ... took over for an ineffective Londry-Jackson in the second half of the next week’s home opener against North Carolina A&T and completed 21-of-31 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns in just one half of work ... nearly led the Mountaineers all the way back from an 18-point deficit with less than six minutes to go but a would-be game-tying 46-yard field goal was no good as time expired in the 24-21 loss to N.C. A&T ... threw two touchdown passes and moved the offense a total of 173 yards over the final three series to set up the potential game-tying field goal ... began splitting snaps evenly with Londry-Jackson in the next game at Elon, where Bryant was an ultra-efficient 9-of-12 for 199 yards and two touchdowns ... still sharing time the next week versus Charleston Southern, Bryant completed 10-of-15 passes for 180 yards and a score ... took over the starting role the following week at The Citadel and responded by completing 19-of-23 passes for 214 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 43 yards and another score in the overtime loss ... engineered a 79-yard drive that spanned just 53 seconds and was capped by his own two-yard touchdown run with 20 seconds remaining that sent The Citadel contest to OT ... had a relatively sub-standard game against Samford, throwing for just 156 yards and being sacked five times in the loss ... rebounded by completing 32-of-40 passes for 307 yards and a score while rushing for 43 yards at Furman ... turned in the finest performance of his young career the next week against Georgia Southern, completing 27-of-33 passes for a career-high 381 yards and accounting for four touchdowns (two passing, two rushing) in the Mountaineers’ 38-14 rout over their future Sun Belt rival ... named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week following his performance versus Georgia Southern ... threw for 257 yards and a touchdown versus Chattanooga but his string of 134-consecutive passes without an interception was snapped when his first interception in four games was returned 28 yards for the go-ahead score with 2:52 to go in what turned out to be a 35-28 defeat ... threw for 221 yards at Georgia ... completed 33-of-43 passes for 305 yards and a touchdown in win at No. 24-ranked Wofford ... closed the season with an efficient effort in limited time against Western Carolina, completing 10-of-16 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns in the Mountaineers’ 48-27 win.

2012: Earned the backup role to starting quarterback Jamal Londry-Jackson during fall camp … made his collegiate debut in the fifth game of the season versus Coastal Carolina … rushed five times for 24 yards before sustaining a severe knee injury at the end of an eight-yard run … the injury required surgery and ended his redshirt-freshman campaign after taking just 13 snaps.

2011: Redshirted.

High School: Earned 2010 first-team all-Tri-Nine Conference recognition ... completed nearly 62 percent of his passes for 2,530 yards and 26 touchdowns with only eight interceptions  and also ran for over 400 yards as a senior ... helped lead Panther Creek to North Carolina 4-AA state semifinals ... completed 25-of-38 passes for 382 yards and six touchdowns in district playoff win over rival Fuquay-Varina ... heady signal-caller played in three different offensive systems in three seasons, going from a run-oriented spread attack as a sophomore at Green Hope H.S. to a pass-oriented spread as a junior at Panther Creek before the Catamounts switched to a pro-style offense for his final campaign ... carried a 4.0+ grade point average ... coached by Wayne Bragg.

Personal: Full name is Kameron Dante Bryant ... born July 6, 1993 (21 years old) ... son of Jermaine Bryant and Renee Wilkerson ... majoring in risk management and insurance ... member of Appalachian State athletics’ academic honor roll.
