Biography

Saw significant playing time in his first year at Appalachian State after transferring from Navarro College prior to last season … is expected to play a bigger role in Appalachian’s offense as a senior after enjoying a terrific spring … will compete with incumbent Drew Bailey for the starting position at tight end during fall camp … boasts a large, athletic frame that makes him both a big target in the passing game and a terrific blocker.

2012: Appeared in all 12 games in his first season with the Mountaineers, appearing mainly in two-tight-end sets and on special teams … made only start when Appalachian opened with two tight ends at Chattanooga … did not have any receptions … recorded his lone statistic of the season with a tackle on an interception at Samford.

Previous College: Was known primarily as a blocking tight end at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas ... caught just two passes for 16 yards over two junior-college seasons ... helped lead squad to a 21-3 record in his two seasons at Navarro, which included winning the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I national championship in 2010 ... also served as team captain at Navarro ... coached by Nick Bobeck.

High School: Earned second-team all-district honors as a defensive end and first-team honors as an offensive tackle ... coached by Terry Felderhoff.
