Biography

One of two Appalachian State seniors that originally elected to forego his final season of eligibility after earning a bachelor’s degree last December but decided to return to the squad while pursuing an MBA this fall (Karl Anderson being the other) … enjoyed a breakout campaign last season, making the first six starts of his career and ranking among the Southern Conference’s top 10 in sacks … is expected to bolster the Mountaineers’ pass rush as a fifth year senior as a regular part of the rotation at defensive end … did not participate in spring practice while on what turned out to be a temporary hiatus from the team.

2012: Appeared in all 12 games, making six starts at defensive end … ranked second on the team and tied for ninth in the Southern Conference with five sacks … tied for sixth on the squad with six tackles for loss … had a relatively slow start to the campaign with just three tackles over the first three games … enjoyed a breakout performance in Week 4 at Chattanooga with three tackles for loss and two sacks in defense-fueled 34-17 come-from-behind victory … turned in a career performance three weeks later at Samford with a career-high seven tackles and three sacks to help lead squad to a pivotal 28-25 victory … made two crucial stops in the waning minutes of the come-from-behind win at SU … first, he combined with Ronald Blair to stuff Bulldog running back Jeremiaha Gates for no gain on third-and-one with 1:41 to go, forcing Samford to punt while clinging to a 25-21 lead … after Appalachian drove 80 yards for the go-ahead score, Scott effectively ended any hopes of a Samford comeback when he sacked QB Andy Summerlin for a loss of six yards on the next to last play of the game … turned in another huge performance in a pivotal conference road game when he made four tackles and blocked a field goal in the Mountaineers’ 31-28 triumph over top-ranked Georgia Southern … earned academic all-Southern Conference honors in recognition of his achievements on and off the field.

2011: Saw action in seven games … recorded tackles in home wins over Savannah State and Western Carolina … also blocked an extra point in 41-6 triumph over Savannah State.

2010: Appeared in three games (Jacksonville, North Carolina Central, Wofford) ... recorded first-career tackle against Wofford.

2009: Redshirted.

High School: Recorded 6.5 sacks as a senior en route to all-area recognition ... a two-time all-conference honoree ... named Northwest Guilford’s most valuable lineman ... was a four-year letterwinner ... coached by Joe Woodruff.
