Career: Career: App State Wrestling’s first four-time NCAA Championships qualifier earned All-America recognition in 2012 as a third-place finisher at 184 pounds … Program leader in career victories thanks to a 129-34 record that included a program-record 42 straight wins in dual matches … 2012 SoCon Male Athlete of the Year … Three-time SoCon champion was the league’s wrestler of the year in 2010 and freshman of the year in 2008 … Went 38-5 as a redshirt senior, capped by a 5-1 mark at the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, where he beat each of the top three seeds at 184 pounds … Used a 12-9 win against top-seeded Joe LeBlanc to reach the semifinal round, where he lost in OT to the eventual national champion, but followed that with a 2-1 win against third-seeded Ben Bennett and an overtime win in the third-place match against Robert Hamlin ... 100th career win came over John Dickson in Virginia Tech dual ... Finished career as school record-holder for wins with 129 (21 as a freshman, 14 as a sophomore who suffered an early season-ending injury, 23 as a redshirt sophomore, 33 as a redshirt junior and 38 as a redshirt senior).

2012 NCAA Tournament: Slotted as No. 9 seed … finished third-place, Appalachian's top place since 1941 … defeated No. 1 seed Joe LeBlanc of Wyoming to earn spot in championship semifinal and clinch all-America status … after falling to eventual-champion and No. 4 seed Steve Bosak, Trotman defeated No. 3 Ben Bennett and No. 2 Rob Hamlin to capture third-place … with teammate Kyle Blevins, became the first pair of Mountaineers to reach all-America status in the same season since 1941.

2011-12: Posted second-most wins (38) in program history … named all-America after finishing third-place at NCAA Championship (5-1) … named to all-Southern Conference team … tabbed ninth in final W.I.N. rankings, 10th in final Wrestling Report and 12th in final Intermat Wrestling rankings … went 15-1 in dual meets … finished 6-0 in SoCon duals … scored team-high 71 dual-meet points, for an average of 4.4 points per match … led team with five technical falls, including two in the SoCon Tournament … second-most major decisions on team with eight … his 18 wins by decision were third-most on team … posted 14-match winning streak … scored two pins in under 60 seconds, including a 20-second pin in Cleveland State dual … twice named SoCon Wrestler of the Month (November and December) and Wrestler of the Week (Nov. 16 and Jan. 11) … named SoCon Tournament Most Outstanding Wrestler … won Hokie Open (4-0) … won Keystone Classic (4-0) … took third place at Reno Tournament of Champions (7-1) … finished fifth place at Southern Scuffle (4-2) … won third SoCon Tournament title (2-0).

Kissel (7-4) and Rutgers’ Daniel Rinaldi (3-1, SV) … twice named SoCon Wrestler of the Week … finished the year ranked No. 19.

2009-10: Named Southern Conference Wrestler of the Year … fifth Mountaineer to ever earn the honor … named to the all-conference team … twice received SoCon Wrestler of the Week for the weeks of February 3-9 and January 13-19 … started off the season with six-straight wins, including a first-place finish at the Michigan State Open, before falling to then-#22 Scott Giffin of Penn, 7-2, giving him second place at the Keystone Classic … rolled off 15 straight victories, capturing the 184 SoCon crown, before falling to top 10 competition in the NCAA Tournament … was defeated by then-#8 Louis Caputo (Harvard), 5-2, and then-#10 Mike Pucillo (Ohio State) to cap off season … finished the season ranked at #19.

2008-09: Despite suffering a season-ending injury in December, finished sixth on the team with 14 wins … started the season with six-straight wins … took second at the Keystone Classic, lost in the finals to No. 6 Mike Cannon (American) … reeled off eight-straight wins after the loss, including three-straight wins over wrestlers ranked in the top-25.

2007-08: Qualified for the NCAA Championships as a freshman at 184 after finishing second in the Southern Conference tournament … beat 20th ranked Scott Ferguson of Army at the NCAA Championships … finished 21-13 on the season.

High School: Two-time state champion … 146-27 career record and a 46-0 record as a senior … senior national all-American … runner-up at Rocky Mountain Nationals … four-year letterwinner in wrestling and two-year letterman in football.
