Three-year starter returns to anchor the Mountaineers’ offensive line again as a senior ... will have to hold off a push by junior Jesse Chapman and freshman Tobias Edge-Campbell to maintain his starting role ... has 28-career starts under his belt and serves as the “quarterback” of the offensive line, making the calls for blocking adjustments ... an intelligent player that is a leader both on and off the field ... plays with infectious energy and tenacity.

2013: Made 11 starts at center ... had a string of 27-consecutive starts snapped when he missed the penultimate game of the season at Wofford due to a lower-body injury sustained the previous week at Georgia ... despite missing a game, recorded the team’s second-highest knockdown total with 33 in just 10 graded performances ... graded out at 80 percent or higher a team-best eight times ... opened the season with an impressive performance at Montana, grading out at 84 percent with a knockdown ... followed up the next week with a season-high eight knockdowns and 83-percent grade against North Carolina A&T ... recorded four knockdowns against Elon and three agianst Charleston Southern ... turned in perhaps his finest performance of the season at Furman, grading out at a whopping 91 percent with six knockdowns ... followed that up with five knockdowns and an 85-percent grade in big win over No. 24-ranked Georgia Southern ... graded out at 86 percent against Chattanooga and was at 82 percent with a knockdown through 67 snaps before being injured late in the contest at Georgia ... earned academic all-Southern Conference accolades for the third time in his career in recognition of his achievements on the field and in the classroom.

2012: Started all 12 games at center … joined left guard Shaq Counts as the only Appalachian State offensive linemen to start all 12 games … entered fall camp in a battle for the starting assignment at right guard but after a preseason injury to starting center Alex Acey, took over the role in the middle and did not relinquish it … ranked second on team with 52 knockdowns (good for more than 27 percent of the team’s 191 total knockdowns) … 85 percent season-long grade ranked second on the team among offensive linemen that saw action in more than 10 plays … was charged with just eight missed assignments all season, the lowest number on the team among offensive linemen that played more than 225 snaps … graded out at 88 percent to help spark home-opening win over Montana ... also caught a deflected pass and rumbled 13 yards for a first down in the third quarter of the Mountaineers’ victory over Montana ... the reception was the first by an Appalachian State offensive lineman since center Scott Suttle also hauled in a deflected pass for no gain at Kansas in 2005 … notched season highs with a 91-percent grade and 12 knockdowns against The Citadel … matched season high with another 91-percent grade to go along with nine knockdowns against Coastal Carolina … recorded eight knockdowns in homecoming victory over Elon … playing near his hometown of Waynesville for the first time, tallied eight knockdowns in win at Western Carolina … named first-team academic all-district and academic all-Southern Conference for achievements on the field and in the classroom.

2011: Played in all 12 games as a freshman and started the last five games of the season at left guard … saw action at both guard positions and center during the course of the season … turned in three-consecutive spectacular performances to close the season, grading out at 83 percent versus Furman, 91 percent against Western Carolina (including an extraordinary 92 percent on run plays) and 88 percent at Elon ... was credited with two knockdowns against both Furman and WCU ... earned academic all-Southern Conference recognition for achievements on the field and in the classroom.
 
2010: Delayed enrollment at Appalachian State for a semester after injuring his foot during the offseason.

High School: Rated as a two-star prospect by Rivals.com ... three-year starter ... all-county, all-conference, all-Western North Carolina and all-state honoree ... was the center on an offensive line that protected fellow Division I signees QB Tyler Brosius (NC State) and RB Austin Chambers (signed originally at Western Carolina, before finishing his career as a linebacker at Appalachian State) and helped the Mountaineers score a school-record 486 points in 2009 ... named team’s 2009 Lineman of the Year ... earned Great American Rivalry Series Student-Athlete of the Year award ... helped lead Tuscola to a combined 23-4-1 record and back-to-back conference championships over his final two seasons ... participated in 2009 North Carolina-South Carolina Shrine Bowl ...  coached by Donnie Kiefer ... also lettered three times in baseball and once in track and field ... attended same high school as current Appalachian State teammate Levi Duffield.
