Anderson Named MAC Goalkeeper of the Week for Second Straight Week

CLEVELAND — After being named the MAC Goalkeeper of the Week for her play over opening weekend, Dakota Anderson has earned the honor for the second consecutive week following a shutout over Davidson and a six-save performance against American.

This marks the second career weekly honor for the Williamsburg, Va., native. She added 12 saves to her season total over the two-game stretch, bringing her to 21 saves through four games.

Against Davidson on Wednesday, she recorded her second shutout of the season, keeping all six shots faced out of the back of the cage to secure a 2-0 win.

She continued that momentum on Sunday, tallying six saves in her second career road start while defending seven penalty corners and making clutch diving stops to keep the Eagles at bay.

Through the first two weeks of the season, Anderson leads the MAC in goals against average (0.69) and save percentage (0.875).

The Mountaineers return to action Wednesday at 6 p.m., when App State hosts Queens at the Dr. Jan C. Watson Field at the Brandon & Erica M. Adcock Field Hockey Complex.
